The Bull Inn

Totnes

The Bull Inn is a Grade II Listed typical example of a Victorian pub that has been historically altered and combined with adjacent houses to form a larger Inn. The site overlooks the Rotherfold, which derives from the livestock trading that took place on the site from the medieval period onwards and gives the pub its name.

Our scheme set out to revitalise the building, which had remained empty since the former pub closed in 2017. The proposal was for a traditional pub centred around high quality organic food and traditional ales.

We retained the basic layout of the ground floor, although internal alterations were necessary to upgrade the kitchen and back of house facilities; and the existing first and second floor rooms were reorganised and extended to provide modern en-suite accommodation, transforming this derelict building into a contemporary gastropub with hotel rooms over.
