Founded in 2005, GYA have been creating beautiful buildings and interiors for 20 years.

We are a small, friendly, creative studio offering a full architectural and interior design service from inception to completion. We work at all scales and have particular expertise in the creative re-use of existing buildings – from very large Grade 1 Listed structures to the refurbishment and extension of individual homes.

We are passionate about design and the positive impact buildings can have on our environment and well being. We love the South West and feel a deep rooted connection to its landscapes and people.

Each project we undertake is as individual as the client who commissions us. We love this diversity and the creative process of listening and understanding before creating bespoke buildings and spaces which are beautiful, functional and affordable.

We work openly and collaboratively to ensure our clients are able to make informed decisions at each stage. We will identify options and opportunities from the outset and communicate our ideas through sketches, drawings and three-dimensional images.

Whilst we love the creative process we also understand the need for pragmatism and efficiency and will responsibly manage the design process with your best interests at the heart of every decision. We have developed close working relationships with a network of design team professionals and have a 100% record in successfully navigating the ever more complex and demanding planning process.

We approach every project with an open mind. The most important thing is to understand your requirements, your priorities and your expectations. We will work hard to identify opportunities and options from the outset and add value to your project through thoughtful design and fresh ideas.

Environmental Responsibility

We are advocates of the ‘Fabric First’ approach which underpins PassivHaus principles and theory. By improving the performance of the building envelope, the amount of energy required to power the building is minimised, whatever the source or method of generation.

We apply these principles to both new-build and re-use projects where the aim is to simply maximise the thermal performance of walls, floors and roofs while minimising air leakage and heat loss through windows and voids. By reducing the requirement for energy input, we are able to realise the full potential of modern renewable generation technologies.

Our intention is always to find the best combination of upgrades and technologies to meet your expectations and budget. We have a wealth of ‘real world’ experience to draw upon and will use this to help guide you to make informed decisions at each stage.

We are members of the Association of Environmentally Conscious Building (AECB) and the Green Register.
