The Royal William Yard is one of the most important collections of Listed military buildings in the UK. Designed by Sir John Rennie in 1826, the prestigious, four-storey Grade II Listed Residence Two was initially built to house civil service officers, but has recently been converted to office use.

Urban Splash wanted to create a fresh communal area at basement level which would provide their office tenants with a new place to grab a coffee, have a chat or a meeting, and give them a fun space to take a break in.

The space was stripped back to its historic features and renovated. Existing walls were painted a simple white to create a more airy feel and a vibrant compact kitchen, shower room, meeting room and cosy snug were added.

The new palette was kept fresh, with a injection of bespoke plywood joinery elements, eye catching bold yellow graphics and contemporary furniture and fun lighting.
