Our latest project at Coombe Dean School is a Sixth Form centre. This connects to and builds on themes developed whilst working on the Art & Design Studios.

The building presents a strong new identity for the schools post-sixteen department with a robust dark black and bright glazed green brick façade. The centre replaces or refurbishes a number of temporary facilities, which are no longer fit for purpose, and utilises poorly used space in a prominent position on the site.

The internal ‘street’ that begins in the Art & Design studios extends to connect with all the new classrooms and study pods. These spaces provide a variety of bright distinct volumes for quiet study, group discussion, IT facilities and traditional teaching.

The intention is for the ‘street’ to be decorated with a stencilled artwork designed by the students, continuing the bold graphics used throughout our work at the school.
